Boorrring ...I know lol

I know....I am soo boring. I did a few looks but haven't had the time since it's getting towards the end of the semester to upload the pictures or even get them onto the computer to look at them. I have a really pretty spring/easter look. I also need to find a way to change the email on this blog so it matches my youtube channel so I don't have to keep logging in and out to go through each one. Okay, maybe I'll go look through my pictures now.

Giuliana and Bill is on though. I <3 them so much. She is such a strong woman and a great role model for young girls (although, she is too skinny, but I know she's had a hard time gaining weight like her doctor wanted for her to be pregnant).

watching HSN - Boscia

it's pronounced "bow-sha" since I know a lot of people don't know how to pronounce it correctly.

The mask they are doing - the luminizing black mask - looks sooooooo cool and awesome!

It's a pore strip for your face.....it really, really is, you can hear it pulling all the stuff out of your pores...

I NEEED THIIISSSSS. Damnit I wish I had money and it's not on dermstore because that too faced to go palette is now sold out and I can't get it anymore and I am not a happy being.

SQUEEEE!

I get to use the dermstore *COUPON* that I got in the myglam bag. I really didn't want to out of sheer, I don't know the word, because I don't want them thinking that it was a good idea (yeah..). But I didn't like my Julep box this month, so I skipped it so I could use that money towards the dermstore purchase.

I am going to get the Beautyfix Secret pick thing for $30 and then the Tarte Palette to Go for $22. I would get one of their $36 ones if I had the money but I don't. Sooo. Yeah. I really want to try the Beautyfix thing because I want to use Beautyfix as a subscription service where I pick the samples, but it's $50 and I cannot afford that even though it's only every quarter. I may start in the summer when I am working more. We will see.

So excited for my Beauty Army samples this month, and from the clues to the MyGlam bag I am totally completely STOKED for that too!. I'm going to try and clean out my SD cards so I can film an unboxing...

Spring 2012 Makeup and Color Trends

I mentioned this in another post about trends - I have no "connections" so the way I find these is just by doing searches and such and looking at what others are talking about and coming out with.

My thoughts about Spring:
 - Spring for me, no matter what the year, is more about pastel colors, fresh colors. Spring is about new life springing up (pardon the pun), flowers, warmer weather, greener leaves and grass, birds, bees, baby animals. So I take those feelings about the season and put them into my looks. I don't see another season where pastels would be an amazing fit. You can where them in Winter too, but for me winter is about the cooler toned pastels. Spring is warmed toned. Light pinks, lavender, lime green (pastel), yellows, oranges, baby blues, corals, peach etc.
-I'll post up nail polishes I have that I would wear for spring, as well as some makeup as well.

Trending:

Nail Trends from Harper's Bazaar
-They mention "Dark Burgundy at Donna Karen" - for me that is a fall color, possibly winter and I would probably never wear it in the spring/summer.
-I'm excited for "Fancy Patterns" -

I just finished a video tutorial and pictures for an easter/spring look with all the colors that I think embody easter. I will at least post the pictures. I need to look at the video and decide if I want to put it up and figure out how to edit it. And I'm in absolute love with it and realized how good this blush I have looks on me. And then I realized that I really want to order some of the ELF mineral blushes.

*hopes and wishes* - and a debbie downer moment

....."the action of hoping and wishing"

Beauty Army announced a deal that when you buy a Pink Sugar product you get a free deluxe sample of their pink sugar scrub....if only I had the money.

So I asked if we would be able to choose them as a sample (specifically come April 1st) and I was told that the solid perfume is already an option......

......which pretty much means that the chances of me be able to chose it are slim to none....and I really, really want it. It's probably the first time since they opened that I was overly exstatic to try a product...if they're gone or I don't have an option to get it I'm going to be quite sad and upset.

I know I'm being a debbie downer right now, but I had to get it out somewhere. I'm already psyching myself out that it's not going to be there and I'm already getting sad/down. Today in general has just been a very off and irritating day already.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another note, I'm skipping my Julep box this month because the products this month are just ehh and I don't really like any of the colors they came out with for their spring line.

Instead I am going to take the money ($20) and use it towards using the Dermstore *COUPON* (not a gift card like they're saying) this week. It's $25 off of $50. If I could afford $60 I'd buy the Laura Gellar set they have even though the balance 'n brighten is in medium....

*Debby Downer Moment #2*
I can't find where I put the coupon...I hope it didn't get thrown out......for once I can use something from the MyGlam bag...

Pink and Black Eye Looks

I love to wear pink eyeshadows. And I've in some places that people are afraid to use them, or don't like to use them (especially bright ones) and they say "well, I'll just use it as a blush" and I don't really get why. You really cannot put in on your lid and leave it like that, you really do need some sort of neutral or another shade of pink to blend and such. And I have a lot of red on my face, and actually, really cannot wear blush without pilling on the foundation.

So anyways, these are the ways that I wear pink eyeshadow. Some are toned down for day time and others are slightly more dramatic for night time. Also keep in mind to play around. Take these as sort of starting out ideas and add some more pink, use less, use more black, smudge the black in a different way etc. I just sit down and play with eyeshadow ALL THE TIME! It's the only way to figure out what works for you, what colors you like etc.

Also, I ONLY used eyeshadow. I did not use black eyeliner or mascara. The black liner you see is eyeshadow. I did use other shadows including a shimmery tone close to my skin, as well as lighter pinks and a bright pink eyeliner from BH cosmetics (which can be replaced with the eyeshadow). Since I have the eyeliner though, I do use like I did in the picture. I'll note what I used in each one.

And YES...I did do only one eye for each look so the pictures of both my eyes look funny...hehe

I'm going to post them, and then edit with the description and information tomorrow when I can decifer each one and what I used..

Happy St. Patrick's Day! - Also, March Beauty Army

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
(I'm very proud to be Irish <3)
Only got to wear emerald green eyeliner from Loreal because I had to work. Also, had green and a little bit of gold for my nails. NOT a fan of the eyeliner..I'll get the name later on.

So, I came on here to do a post on Beauty Army with pictures and everything, and as the computer was loading, I hit a wall. So I'm exhausted....
I said in my previous post that I wasn't all that excited for this month's Beauty Army box. I'm not unhappy with it since a new product got added in right before I made my choice and I got the SunFX Shimmer Lotion (I love shimmer!).

I'm also going to do a post. I did several looks with pink and black eyeshadow. I did this because I was watching a video by BH Cosmetics, and a girl commented about what to do with pink and black eyeshadows, and I LOVE to wear pink eyeshadow, so I sent her a message saying I could show her a couple. So I have those all done, just need to post them up. So I will be doing that tomorrow as well. I haven't been feeling well and had to work and haven't been sleeping soooo it took me an extra day or two to do that. BUT, it is done and I'm very happy with the looks that I did. They're simple but can be used either every day or to go out.

Ok.....goodnight :)

THE SOAP BOX by Fortune Cookie Soap (FCS)

SOOOO EXCITED!
If I can figure out how to edit the video that I was making as an open box review before it cut out halfway through I can show you my very first impression of actually getting this and just how excited I was!

I was able to get pictures before my camera died as well (hoping to get more batteries tomorrow).

OH - but I totally forgot to take pictures of my new little "vanity" which consists of the top of my dresser inside of my closet :) But it's so cute and it works and I even have a little lamp and it's awesome....I am using one of my drawers for extra makeup and other stuff - so now to find a place for my clothes.....actually there's a bunch of random stuff in the other drawers as well....I still am unorganized since moving at the beginning of the year...

Well, upon editing the photos, I realized the pics I took of the Milk Bath and Bubbling Bath Crystals were out of focus, so those will come later on.

ANYWAYS..ON TO THE SOAP BOX!!!

EEEEP!!

I'm going to call this week...monthly subscription box week!!

Due to credit card reasons, or what not....all my montly subsciption boxes are coming this week! I will probably get two today (I think MyGlam and Julep). They were both in MA on friday. *eepers*

So, my clutch went in my car. And it's vacation week. So I am stuck at home. Which means...I'm bored. So I'm hoping to catch up on things. And try to sign up for a few different websites and kind of get my blog out to more people. I know I  am not always the greatest at updating, but I try really hard to bring items and such to people that cannot afford the high end brands.

Okay...more later. I need to somehow find a way to go get more foundation. I think I am COMPLETELY OUT

UPDATE:
Myglam and The Soap Box came today. But I have a migraine. I was taping reviews (first time ever!) and the memory card became full halfway through the soap box one. I need to figure out how to flip it since everything is backwards. I've never filmed before sooo..

UPDATE #2:
Photobucket is hating me! It froze as I was trying to load pictures. Well, didn't freeze completely but stopped showing the preview of pictures that I was previewing up upload....sooooooo...trying, but It's not working all that well ...

I lost my PSSSST! Beauty Army March 2012 Sample Choices

*sad face*

I had it in my car to use that day when I got to school because I was running late. Then I moved it because it was going to snow and I didn't want it to explode. I thought I moved it to a safe place, but now I can't find it! And I really wanted to try it out and use it. I want to start trying to use a few different kinds of hair products. I never do anything with it because it's long. I do need a slight trim and cut though. But 1. I never have any time to do anything real fun and 2. it's "almost" perfectly straight and boring. I've tried looking up a few videos on cute and quick hair styles, but I always forget how to do them, or can't do them. It's usually just thrown up in a pony tail, messy bun or messy braid. I have longish side bangs and those usually end up in the pony tail because my hair is super oily while my scalp is really dry and flaky during the winter. But it's not dandruff and Head & Shoulders doesn't help....

Ordered my Beauty Army kit for the month after much deliberation.........

Gossip Girl Series

I am slightly obsessed with Gossip Girl, since the very first book came out.

I was watching monday night and wanted to do a tutorial/look inspired by Michelle Trachenburg (Georgina)'s look. And then I saw (finally) that the Makeup Geek weekly challenge this week is inspired by Blake Lively. Now it doesn't have to be from Gossip Girl, but I am going to do it from a Gossip Girl look. So that is what inspired this. So I will start off with those two, then move on to others.

Other Updates:
I've used a few of my samples from Beauty Army from last month and will do a quick blurbs on those soon. Same issues as last month with this month as far as the sample selection goes and I really feel no need to order this month except that there are two that I reallly want to try. I'm just so bummed out still that I can't try the LaRocca Lip Shield...

I'll also do a quick update on my Julep boxes I've been receiving, as well as the MyGlam bag I got last month. I am going to continue with this month with MyGlam to see how it is, and possibly might cancel.

I also signed up for "The Soap Box" from Fortune Cookie Soap and am sooooooooooooo excited about it!!! I absolutely cannot wait for that and I will do a whole post on that when it comes.

......I really need to stop subscribing to subscription services.....I'm going to go broke......my boyfriend is getting slightly annoyed with it hehe. But I just love to get packages in the mail.

The Brush that isn't given enough credit

(well, as far as I know haha)

I first heard of this brush when I was watching the videos put up by Makeup Designory. They use this brush (or a smaller) version for mascara. I've also seen it on Makeup Geek and a few other youtubers' videos.

It has become one of my all time FAVORITE types of brushes....no contest, everyone should have one........
it's the...............

Catching Up - Beauty Army box shipped today!

Hi!

So my Beauty Army kit finally shipped today. Here is a preview of what I selected as my samples.

I had a very hard time with this month due to some fusterations with the quiz and the samples that didn't seem to fit with what I selected. I later found out that I was right and that there was a lip balm that I could have selected but it never showed up in the like 20 times that I took the quiz, so that I was quite upset about. Another issue was that lotions or creams were the only things I was getting (hence, taking the quiz 20 or so times). I have a face moisturizer that I use because it's the only one I found that I really like. I don't mind trying others but 1. the chances of me buying it are slim to none because it's probably really expensive and 2. that's not the only thing I want in my kit.

One of the choices was another bling tone eyeshadow which I got last month and wasn't too thrilled with it.

They had a scrub I really wanted but it was scented with coconut which I cannot do. The scrub is the same brand as the shampoo so I am wondering what this is going to smell like.

A few of the items I was excited about, some were just because I had to choose. I really....really wanted the lip balm. I'm just having issues with the lack of variety. There is variety within the brands of lotions/serums that they are offering.......but I want more than lotions/serums. I want make-up, nail products, hair products that aren't shampoo (I technically got two "shampoos"). I'll explain more about why I chose the samples I did when the kit arrives.

2 new Julep Boxes...IMATS...Beauty Army coming...MyGlam coming...

I'm exhausted. It's too late for this. Night time is the only real time that I have to do this because of my son, school and work....but I am just so tired.

-I'm super excited because I'm pretty sure that I'll be going to IMATS New York! Like so excited! But the hotels are so expensive that I don't know what to do. I don't mind walking there, but I don't want to drive so I look at all the hotels right around Pier 94, but they are $200 a night, which I really cannot afford. And even geekier...is that I really truly want to the stay in The Empire Hotel because of Gossip Girl. I am slightly obsessed with the show/books lol. I'm truly hoping that they are taping during IMATS. Or at least to meet Ed Westwick, Leighton Meister or Blake Lively lol. <3 <3

-I finally got my January It Girl box from Julep maven since they sent me the wrong one in December. I also got the February Bombshell (which is my normal profile). Since I'm behind and I got 2 Zoya nailpolishes, I just put on the two polishes from Feb. after the Zoya one chipped too much. I loved the zoya polish I used as well as the two Julep ones I just used and will put my comments when I do a post with all the pictures.

-Subscriptions for MyGlam opened up and I signed up to see what its like. They are another monthly subscription service (I need to stop doing those lol). I wanted to test it out and try it. This one is $10 and the Feb one will be my first one and will review that.

-My Beauty Army box will be coming soon. It was either sent out on Friday or will be on Monday. I haven't checked my email yet. So will be doing a review.

-I used two of my BFTE eyeshadows and will be dong a review on that...I'm so far behind. I'll do some posts tomorrow when I have more time.

So excited for my Beauty From The Earth cosmetics eyeshadows. They look beyond amazing.

Also for around $25 I got a bunch of things, well maybe not a bunch, but good for $20. Including the new Maybelline Eye Tattoo, a lip stain and finally my orange lipstick by NYX

MyFace Cosmetics Bling Tone Eyeshadow

This is my review on the MyFace Cosmetics Bling Tone Eyeshadow. I have this eyeshadow in the color Sp"ice"y. It's a warm, light to medium brown. It has a ton of glitter...like...a TON...

It's a very...special eyeshadow. When I get my good camera I need to try and take pictures of what happens when you apply it (especially with a brush). It goes EVERYWHERE!

I did find the best way to apply it, is with your finger. And you need to pat it on, then spread it with your finger...very cautiously. You end up with a bunch of glitter still on your finger. It goes on a little darker then it is in the pan. Or at least a different tone.

The texture is different and it's so hard to explain. It feels and looks like a cream in the pan, but on your finger and eye it looks and feels like a powder. Now this does mean little to no fallout of the actual color and eyeshadow, but not for the glitter. I have not worn it all day because when I have put it on, I had too much glitter everywhere or I was just playing around before bed. So I will do a look with it and get some pictures to show what I mean about the glitter.

Pretty much true to color - but doesn't show the glitter

GLITTER!!!

Not in focus - but shows the glitter. I wiped what was left on my finger after I swatched it next to the swatch

This eyeshadow is the EXACT same consistency and type of eyeshadow as the Victoria's Secret Glitter Shadow. As soon as I touched the Bling Tone I knew it was the same. I am going to do a comparison between the too, granted the VS one is teal..and would mean too much glitter in one look. But I'll do a side by side. Here are the pictures of the two side by side. You can tell (sorta)...I need better pictures..

Rating: (This is my experimental system!)
Color: 4 of 5 (Wasn't the exact same as in the pot)
Texture: 5 of 5 (Super cool!!)
Color Payoff: 4 of 5 (No primer and was super pigmented and super glitterly)
Workability (How easy is it to work with): 1 of 5  (And it only got the 1 because of the lack of fallout!)
Stay Power: Unknown
Overall: Unknown as of the moment - more testing needed!!
Comments: If anyone has any advice on how to work with this product...please let me know!

Videos: Please keep in mind that I cannot find a video editing software. They load in quicktime and I cannot edit through that. I have to load them onto another computer to edit them, which I will do at some point for future ones. But for now you can FF through me putting the camera down or whatever. I know one of them did not upload properly. I am working to fix it.

I don't think the other one will work because it was too long so I will redo because it was showing how much the glitter spread when I lightly swiped my swatched hand on the other.....sooo upset, it was crazy!

BEAUTY ARMY DEBUT!

I subscribe to this service and pay for it on my own. None of this was sent to me. All my reviews on honest and my actual thoughts, no matter how negative or how positive

B eauty Army is a service just like Birchbox but with some differences which makes it stand out a little more in my eyes. Now I never tried Birchbox but there are reasons for that. But first, Beauty Army is a monthly subscription service where you pay $12 a month and receive SIX samples of different beauty products which YOU get to choose. You can also have a beauty expert pick them for you. But I chose this services because I got to choose the samples. That is HUGE for me. I have a son and watch where I spend my money so I want to know that I am getting my money's worth. After watching reviews on Birchbox, I couldn't justify the money spend each month based on what you got.

Beauty Army debuted this January with a limited supply of 300 boxes and they did sell out. They wanted a limited supply to begin with, but I do believe that this was a one-time thing and there will no longer be a specific amount available. I do have to say that there debut was ...hmm..less than graceful, but they handled it very well and to the best of their ability. There were host and connection problems and it look 2 hours for me to get on and to order my box. I do have to admit I was not the happiest about this....and may have spoken up about this at the time....but it's done and over with.

As a company they have excellent customer service and really enjoy their followers/fans and customers. I do not have a twitter account, but they have a twitter account and a facebook account and their facebook is always updated, they're always communicating and have fun conversations. It's super refreshing and fun.

I got my box a week or so ago but I wanted to try some of the products first. The box it came in is super amazing and reusable. I'm a storage/box junkie so this was awesome. It's nice to have a re-useable box so you're not throwing more packaging away. There was a lot of tissue paper that the products were wrapped in, which is good so the samples don't roll around and open or break, but it's hard to reuse. They cut the pieces to fit the samples so it wasn't a HUGE waste. But that's just a nit-picky thing.

P.S. - Sorry about the image quality, the light isn't great and I didn't have my good camera. And I don't know how to really photograph well with bad lighting...but I think I did good. The colors of the shadows are actually quite true.

Joico K-Pak Revitalize
I guess Beauty Army is not selling this product full size as I cannot click on it on the website. So I do not know what the full product size and price are, but I will try Amazon later.
This also means that I cannot copy the description. I'll add it later. But it's a hair treatment.
Sample Size: 1.7 oz

Strivectin SD Eye Concentrate
Same thing here....cannot buy through Beauty Army. This description is what is on the tube:
"Eye concentrate for wrinkles. 2 to 8 Weeks. Lines, creases and dark circles less visible."
Sample Size was small - .25 oz - but it says it's a two week supply
I do have to say that a little does go a long way. I've been using it at least every night, sometimes in the morning if I remember. You are supposed to use it AM and PM. Even in the morning the skin around my eyes feels really soft and smooth. Softer than with anything else that I have tried. Have not seen a difference yet. Not sure if I will...I have really dark circles and fine lines that I think are bad. But if nothing else, it makes the area really soft. And it says it takes 2 to 8 weeks and I only have a 2 week supply. From what I remember it was quite expensive too...
Shea Terra Organics Black Soap Facial Cleanser
"Microdermabrasion in a bottle"
"100% Natural. The world's most effective, amazing face wash! Based on anancient African formula, this wash works like microdermabrasion to get rid of dead skin, even skin tone, firm skin and fight acne. Look younger in just minutes of using."

Full Product Size: 4 fl oz - $18.00
Sample Product Size: 1 oz - $4.50

I have used twice. It says you'll probably experience burning and redness as it works. First time I didn't really feel anything. I didn't have any dry skin that time so I thought that might be why. Second time I felt a little burning and itchiness. The bottle also says use it again if you need to. I didn't want to. I don't like doing stuff like that more than once unless absolutely necessary.
UPDATE: I think I might be having a reaction, or something. I don't think my skin likes it. I have to see if it's this or the Head and Shoulders shampoo/conditioner. My face gets extremely hot and red and it will last for hours and I get will get red bumps that look like little pimples. It says pore cleanser, and I have really bad clogged pores....they're always clogged and nothing works. And I was really hoping that this would actually work....but sad to say it did not. It worked fine getting rid of dead and dry skin. But not as good as my cleanser and loofa pad. I'm going to try it again and see if it is what I am reacting too and see if it works any better. I really like to try products out before making a final decision about them.

I really do like how this is an all natural product and I am getting really into making my own natural and almost all natural cosmetics and products so this really fits into that and I really wanted it to work soooo much.

MyFace Cosnmetics Bling Tone Eyeshadow

In the bleak mid-winter she longed for the warmth of the sun to shine on her face. But with no escape to a tropical clime she did the next best thing and wore sp"ice"y that day...the rich, warm brown with an icy glow that reminded her of the spiced bay rum they drank on the beach, or the warm glow of the copper sand under their feet.
Color: Sp"ice"y
Full Size: (no size) - $20.00
Sample Size: Full size product - $20.00
(I will have a lot to write about this)

Spring 2012 Makeup Trends

So it's not like I am involved with any cosmetic companies, or go to fashion week, so I just do my own searches and such for makeup trends to see what is up for the next season. That is what I am doing tonight. When I was looking the other night I saw "conflicting" trends, or maybe they are both going to be in! I saw one by (now I forget the company!) that was pastel eyes, but I also saw that Bobbi Brown is coming out with a Neon and Nudes line for the spring (picture/link to follow). I am totally down for neon makeup!!!

Bobbi Brown: Neon and Nudes Spring 2012

  • Those lip glosses look so cool, but it says they are sheer (which might be a good thing...) but I'd have to see how they look in person
  • I love the looks of it all! I'm very fair, but with red cheeks, so I don't think the blushes would look good. And I have plenty of bright eyeshadows.. so I don't see myself purchasing those, but they look super pretty and pigmented.
NARS Spring 2012

Two Faced Cosmetics

  • They are releasing a "Natural Beauty" collection
Tarte
  • Is releasing/has released 4 new amazonian clay blushes that have more sparkle in them than their other blushes. The four shades include Glisten (which looks AWESOME), Flush, Buff and Adored. The swatches of Glisten are just to die for, and I'm going to have to try it and see if it will look good and I'm praying it does. It's a pink but with a hint of peach/gold almost like duo-chrome. It changes depending on the angle with some extra sparkle too.

Oranges/Tangerines also seem to be big right now. I would probably totally rock the orange. Just don't know how it would look. Hmm..inspiring...

Another trend I have found is matching your lip color and nail color, which is ...I don't know. I don't normally wear colors that I can wear on my lips. And that means you'll be wearing the same lip color for a few days. I mean I only have a few colors, but they're pretty sheer because I'm not a huge fan of bright, strong lips since I am just getting into lip colors. We will see about this..

Time to get serious!!

Helllllooooo,
So I just moved, things still need to be unpacked. A lot of things.....But now I am hoping to have more time to update and keep up with my reviews and such on here. I got a bunch of makeup for christmas including 2 BH cosmetics palettes so now I have plenty of colors to do whatever look I please.

Now  I just need to figure out the best place to take pictures and the settings and such on my camera to get some true swatches and pictures of looks. I really am not even going to list everything I got right now. SOOO excited. There isn't a thing I got that I don't love and everything besides the palettes was ELF. I also have a few other things I have picked up, as well as a few of the Julep Maven boxes to review. The new one for January should be coming soon -- had issues with the shipping because of the move. I'm going to try to get the courage to do a video. It would be so much easier than writing everything -- and probably more interesting! I will probably at least do a video of the products and my thoughts, maybe not actually showing my face. The full bathroom in my new place has a huge mirror with like vanity lights so it's pretty bright and awesome. Maybe not bright enough though, but I could always try changing the lights to ones that are more white and brighter.

I need to find my tweezers and a bunch of other things....my eyebrows are looking awful ahh. I also have a few "new year's resolutions" or at least some resolutions to myself. I definantly need to lose weight and try to get somewhere near to where I was before I had my son 2 years ago. Just trying hard to take better care of myself. Makeup is surprisingly helpful with that because it does make me feel more beautiful. And I love crazy looks, but I don't wear them anywhere because I am afraid of people to look at me so if I lost some weight and felt better then it wouldn't be so much of an issue. I don't know, makes sense in my head.

Goodnight for now, I am exhausted.
