MyFace Cosmetics Bling Tone Eyeshadow

This is my review on the MyFace Cosmetics Bling Tone Eyeshadow. I have this eyeshadow in the color Sp"ice"y. It's a warm, light to medium brown. It has a ton of glitter...like...a TON...

It's a very...special eyeshadow. When I get my good camera I need to try and take pictures of what happens when you apply it (especially with a brush). It goes EVERYWHERE!

I did find the best way to apply it, is with your finger. And you need to pat it on, then spread it with your finger...very cautiously. You end up with a bunch of glitter still on your finger. It goes on a little darker then it is in the pan. Or at least a different tone.

The texture is different and it's so hard to explain. It feels and looks like a cream in the pan, but on your finger and eye it looks and feels like a powder. Now this does mean little to no fallout of the actual color and eyeshadow, but not for the glitter. I have not worn it all day because when I have put it on, I had too much glitter everywhere or I was just playing around before bed. So I will do a look with it and get some pictures to show what I mean about the glitter.

Pretty much true to color - but doesn't show the glitter

GLITTER!!!

Not in focus - but shows the glitter. I wiped what was left on my finger after I swatched it next to the swatch

This eyeshadow is the EXACT same consistency and type of eyeshadow as the Victoria's Secret Glitter Shadow. As soon as I touched the Bling Tone I knew it was the same. I am going to do a comparison between the too, granted the VS one is teal..and would mean too much glitter in one look. But I'll do a side by side. Here are the pictures of the two side by side. You can tell (sorta)...I need better pictures..

Rating: (This is my experimental system!)
Color: 4 of 5 (Wasn't the exact same as in the pot)
Texture: 5 of 5 (Super cool!!)
Color Payoff: 4 of 5 (No primer and was super pigmented and super glitterly)
Workability (How easy is it to work with): 1 of 5  (And it only got the 1 because of the lack of fallout!)
Stay Power: Unknown
Overall: Unknown as of the moment - more testing needed!!
Comments: If anyone has any advice on how to work with this product...please let me know!

Videos: Please keep in mind that I cannot find a video editing software. They load in quicktime and I cannot edit through that. I have to load them onto another computer to edit them, which I will do at some point for future ones. But for now you can FF through me putting the camera down or whatever. I know one of them did not upload properly. I am working to fix it.

I don't think the other one will work because it was too long so I will redo because it was showing how much the glitter spread when I lightly swiped my swatched hand on the other.....sooo upset, it was crazy!

BEAUTY ARMY DEBUT!

I subscribe to this service and pay for it on my own. None of this was sent to me. All my reviews on honest and my actual thoughts, no matter how negative or how positive

B eauty Army is a service just like Birchbox but with some differences which makes it stand out a little more in my eyes. Now I never tried Birchbox but there are reasons for that. But first, Beauty Army is a monthly subscription service where you pay $12 a month and receive SIX samples of different beauty products which YOU get to choose. You can also have a beauty expert pick them for you. But I chose this services because I got to choose the samples. That is HUGE for me. I have a son and watch where I spend my money so I want to know that I am getting my money's worth. After watching reviews on Birchbox, I couldn't justify the money spend each month based on what you got.

Beauty Army debuted this January with a limited supply of 300 boxes and they did sell out. They wanted a limited supply to begin with, but I do believe that this was a one-time thing and there will no longer be a specific amount available. I do have to say that there debut was ...hmm..less than graceful, but they handled it very well and to the best of their ability. There were host and connection problems and it look 2 hours for me to get on and to order my box. I do have to admit I was not the happiest about this....and may have spoken up about this at the time....but it's done and over with.

As a company they have excellent customer service and really enjoy their followers/fans and customers. I do not have a twitter account, but they have a twitter account and a facebook account and their facebook is always updated, they're always communicating and have fun conversations. It's super refreshing and fun.

I got my box a week or so ago but I wanted to try some of the products first. The box it came in is super amazing and reusable. I'm a storage/box junkie so this was awesome. It's nice to have a re-useable box so you're not throwing more packaging away. There was a lot of tissue paper that the products were wrapped in, which is good so the samples don't roll around and open or break, but it's hard to reuse. They cut the pieces to fit the samples so it wasn't a HUGE waste. But that's just a nit-picky thing.

P.S. - Sorry about the image quality, the light isn't great and I didn't have my good camera. And I don't know how to really photograph well with bad lighting...but I think I did good. The colors of the shadows are actually quite true.

ON TO THE PRODUCTS!!

Joico K-Pak Revitalize
I guess Beauty Army is not selling this product full size as I cannot click on it on the website. So I do not know what the full product size and price are, but I will try Amazon later.
This also means that I cannot copy the description. I'll add it later. But it's a hair treatment.
Sample Size: 1.7 oz

Strivectin SD Eye Concentrate
Same thing here....cannot buy through Beauty Army. This description is what is on the tube:
"Eye concentrate for wrinkles. 2 to 8 Weeks. Lines, creases and dark circles less visible."
Sample Size was small - .25 oz - but it says it's a two week supply
I do have to say that a little does go a long way. I've been using it at least every night, sometimes in the morning if I remember. You are supposed to use it AM and PM. Even in the morning the skin around my eyes feels really soft and smooth. Softer than with anything else that I have tried. Have not seen a difference yet. Not sure if I will...I have really dark circles and fine lines that I think are bad. But if nothing else, it makes the area really soft. And it says it takes 2 to 8 weeks and I only have a 2 week supply. From what I remember it was quite expensive too...
Shea Terra Organics Black Soap Facial Cleanser
"Microdermabrasion in a bottle"
"100% Natural. The world's most effective, amazing face wash! Based on anancient African formula, this wash works like microdermabrasion to get rid of dead skin, even skin tone, firm skin and fight acne. Look younger in just minutes of using."

Full Product Size: 4 fl oz - $18.00
Sample Product Size: 1 oz - $4.50

I have used twice. It says you'll probably experience burning and redness as it works. First time I didn't really feel anything. I didn't have any dry skin that time so I thought that might be why. Second time I felt a little burning and itchiness. The bottle also says use it again if you need to. I didn't want to. I don't like doing stuff like that more than once unless absolutely necessary.
UPDATE: I think I might be having a reaction, or something. I don't think my skin likes it. I have to see if it's this or the Head and Shoulders shampoo/conditioner. My face gets extremely hot and red and it will last for hours and I get will get red bumps that look like little pimples. It says pore cleanser, and I have really bad clogged pores....they're always clogged and nothing works. And I was really hoping that this would actually work....but sad to say it did not. It worked fine getting rid of dead and dry skin. But not as good as my cleanser and loofa pad. I'm going to try it again and see if it is what I am reacting too and see if it works any better. I really like to try products out before making a final decision about them.

I really do like how this is an all natural product and I am getting really into making my own natural and almost all natural cosmetics and products so this really fits into that and I really wanted it to work soooo much.

MyFace Cosnmetics Bling Tone Eyeshadow

In the bleak mid-winter she longed for the warmth of the sun to shine on her face. But with no escape to a tropical clime she did the next best thing and wore sp"ice"y that day...the rich, warm brown with an icy glow that reminded her of the spiced bay rum they drank on the beach, or the warm glow of the copper sand under their feet.
Color: Sp"ice"y
Full Size: (no size) - $20.00
Sample Size: Full size product - $20.00
(I will have a lot to write about this)

Spring 2012 Makeup Trends

So it's not like I am involved with any cosmetic companies, or go to fashion week, so I just do my own searches and such for makeup trends to see what is up for the next season. That is what I am doing tonight. When I was looking the other night I saw "conflicting" trends, or maybe they are both going to be in! I saw one by (now I forget the company!) that was pastel eyes, but I also saw that Bobbi Brown is coming out with a Neon and Nudes line for the spring (picture/link to follow). I am totally down for neon makeup!!!

Bobbi Brown: Neon and Nudes Spring 2012

  • Those lip glosses look so cool, but it says they are sheer (which might be a good thing...) but I'd have to see how they look in person
  • I love the looks of it all! I'm very fair, but with red cheeks, so I don't think the blushes would look good. And I have plenty of bright eyeshadows.. so I don't see myself purchasing those, but they look super pretty and pigmented.
NARS Spring 2012

Two Faced Cosmetics

  • They are releasing a "Natural Beauty" collection
Tarte
  • Is releasing/has released 4 new amazonian clay blushes that have more sparkle in them than their other blushes. The four shades include Glisten (which looks AWESOME), Flush, Buff and Adored. The swatches of Glisten are just to die for, and I'm going to have to try it and see if it will look good and I'm praying it does. It's a pink but with a hint of peach/gold almost like duo-chrome. It changes depending on the angle with some extra sparkle too.

Oranges/Tangerines also seem to be big right now. I would probably totally rock the orange. Just don't know how it would look. Hmm..inspiring...

Another trend I have found is matching your lip color and nail color, which is ...I don't know. I don't normally wear colors that I can wear on my lips. And that means you'll be wearing the same lip color for a few days. I mean I only have a few colors, but they're pretty sheer because I'm not a huge fan of bright, strong lips since I am just getting into lip colors. We will see about this..

Time to get serious!!

Helllllooooo,
So I just moved, things still need to be unpacked. A lot of things.....But now I am hoping to have more time to update and keep up with my reviews and such on here. I got a bunch of makeup for christmas including 2 BH cosmetics palettes so now I have plenty of colors to do whatever look I please.

Now  I just need to figure out the best place to take pictures and the settings and such on my camera to get some true swatches and pictures of looks. I really am not even going to list everything I got right now. SOOO excited. There isn't a thing I got that I don't love and everything besides the palettes was ELF. I also have a few other things I have picked up, as well as a few of the Julep Maven boxes to review. The new one for January should be coming soon -- had issues with the shipping because of the move. I'm going to try to get the courage to do a video. It would be so much easier than writing everything -- and probably more interesting! I will probably at least do a video of the products and my thoughts, maybe not actually showing my face. The full bathroom in my new place has a huge mirror with like vanity lights so it's pretty bright and awesome. Maybe not bright enough though, but I could always try changing the lights to ones that are more white and brighter.

I need to find my tweezers and a bunch of other things....my eyebrows are looking awful ahh. I also have a few "new year's resolutions" or at least some resolutions to myself. I definantly need to lose weight and try to get somewhere near to where I was before I had my son 2 years ago. Just trying hard to take better care of myself. Makeup is surprisingly helpful with that because it does make me feel more beautiful. And I love crazy looks, but I don't wear them anywhere because I am afraid of people to look at me so if I lost some weight and felt better then it wouldn't be so much of an issue. I don't know, makes sense in my head.

Goodnight for now, I am exhausted.
